What you will be doing:

The Financial Services Specialist provides financial support to the Liver Disease programs. Verifies eligibility and benefits to obtain insurance authorizations prior to all Transplant-related procedures, diagnostic tests, and physician consults. Assists with patient billing inquiries, and insurance denial and reimbursement queries. Monitors and identifies changes in regulations and legislation with regards to commercial and government payer reimbursement practices. Provides financial counseling to patients and their families. Provides assistance and support to the Finance Leads and Associate Director with ad hoc data analysis projects to demonstrate financial performance of the advance disease and transplant programs.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree in business, accounting, computer science or a related major highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years in finance or equivalent office experience highly preferred.

Experience/Skills Sought:

  • A minimum of 3 years of Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience to include medical terminology, insurance eligibility, verification, transplant billing/collections experience.
  • Experience in a medical office setting/scheduling of patients.
  • In depth knowledge of transplant case rates, cashing billing regulations, and collection practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of Managed Care, Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Capitated Insurance models.
  • Establishes priorities, problem solves and works independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including with medical terminology.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
