Under close supervision, the Maintenance Tech I (MT-I) performs entry-level duties as assigned to support the facility operations by performing routine and preventative maintenance, ensuring operation of lab and office equipment, assisting in all facility services. All work is to be completed in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards. The Maintenance Technician I must be able to operate safely within the lab and office environments.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform general facility basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks including plumbing repairs, painting, office furniture installation, general building repairs, replacing light bulbs, building exteriors, and others as assigned.
  • Ensure clean rooms and the general facility is maintained in optimum conditions and in compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Assist in all facility services including physical security, waste removal, recycling, central services, office furnishings, and office equipment.
  • Assist to ensure manufacturing and all labs and lab personnel are supported to meet business needs, including lab gasses, preventive maintenance, equipment service contracts, and safety equipment.
  • Work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low-temperature liquids, high-pressure liquids and gasses, steam, and moving machinery.
  • Receive gasses and check status daily, deliver vendor-delivered supplies to appropriate locations.
  • Coordinate and escort vendor services.
  • Ability to check and respond to Equipment Monitoring System and Building Management Systems.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping for equipment and systems in a cGMP compliant manner, including calibration records.
  • Proactively support the department’s goals and objectives.
  • Performs all other duties as may be assigned.

Department-Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Troubleshooting and Repairs of systems like HVAC, Chiller, Boiler, Fans and Motors.
  • Perform Routine Preventive Maintenance work orders and assist in utility operations.
  • Assist in critical spares inventory management for utility systems.
  • Reads blueprints, piping, and writing diagrams.
  • Respond and attend to breakdowns throughout the facility.
  • Record daily Inspection checklist for facility equipment.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED, required.

Experience & Skills:

  • One (1) year of experience in biomanufacturing or pharmaceutical facilities, required.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary for dealing with both employees and vendors throughout each day to answer repair requests, work with equipment vendors, and accept and deliver shipments throughout the facility.
  • Ability to interpret and apply knowledge of State, Federal and Agency standards to comply with regulations.
  • Ability to convey and/or receive written/verbal information to/from various audiences in different formats.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills to enhance and adapt work, services, and/or care.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands and/or manage complex and competing priorities.
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities, while being extremely adaptable and flexible and maintaining a positive work environment.
