What you will be doing in this role:

It is the responsibility of the Architect to manage the planning, programming, design, and implementation of the Master Facility Plan, strategic projects and annual capital projects from inception through project close-out for the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System. The Architect will work with and coordinate with the consultant planning, design and engineering teams. 

The Architect shall review the planning or scheduling of projects, taking into consideration the schedule, scope, and budget, and the construction phases of assigned projects and support internal Construction Project Managers during the construction phases of assigned projects. 

  • Manages annual capital projects to meet CSMC and CSHS budgets, scopes, and priorities. 
  • Responsible for the Construction Management Team assigned to larger projects. Specifically for the coordination of Project Management, Cost Control and Technical Advisory Staff. This includes the coordination of internal support staff and departments. 
  • Participates in entire project evaluation and development. Makes appropriate project recommendations to the department manager and project managers about cost, scheduling and construction issues.
  • Works with jurisdictional agencies and keeps Design Manager informed of project progress.
  • Prepares, reviews and monitors budgets and all project dollar expenditure financial performance.
  • Evaluates users and associated space requirements and makes appropriate design recommendations as needed.
  • Prepares requests for proposed architectural and engineering fees, evaluates proposals and recommend design team members.
  • Obtains appropriate project approvals. Advises construction project manager if applicable signatures are not complete or available.
  • Reviews consultant plans, specifications and as-builts to ensure compliance with campus and system standards including meeting the specific project requirements.
  • Reviews project compliance with all building code and medical center/health system compliance and standards, hospital policies, federal/state/local regulations and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Communicates with customers in a positive and professional manner. Serves as a design team/user liaison. Makes contact with Medical Center and Health System users on a routine basis and works closely with all FPDC team members to improve customer service.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in architecture required.

California Licensed Architect required upon hire.

A minimum of 5 years' proven experience as a practicing architect required.

A minimum 10 years of Programming, planning, design and construction of health care facilities preferred.
