Our 886-bed nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department has over 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics.

We are committed to the education and training of pharmacists, students/interns, residents, technicians, and other health care professionals. We are affiliated with several Schools of Pharmacy and offers PGY1 and PGY2 residency programs. The residency and student experiential programs at CSMC continue to grow with every successive year, where over 125 residents have graduated from the accredited PGY1 pharmacy residency program since 1985 and more than 200 student rotations are offered at CSMC annually.

This role is a hybrid role.

The Pharmacy Enterprise Program Coordinator at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California report to the Vice President who also serves as the Chief Pharmacy Officer and supports medication-related and pharmacy initiatives across Cedars-Sinai. The pharmacist coordinates and supports initiatives and projects related to financial stewardship, clinical services, operations, medication safety and quality and regulatory compliance throughout the department, medical center, medical network and affiliates. Key responsibilities include planning, design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. The pharmacist assists in making recommendations on process improvement, new processes, tools and techniques, or development of new services.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy in the USA.
  • Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

  • Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.or eligible for licensure
  • BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure

Desired Experience:

  • Coordinates pharmacy performance improvement initiatives and metrics to demonstrate pharmacy’s contributions to positive patient and organizational outcomes
  • Coordinates financial stewardship initiatives and monitor reimbursement of high cost drugs
  • Supports initiatives to reduce employee prescription costs
  • Supports pharmacy services throughout the medical center to support safe, effective, efficient medication use including but not limited to inpatient/Emergency Department decentral services, cancer centers, investigational drug services, and central pharmacy operations including sterile compounding
  • Supports training and education programs including precepting and/or education of learners and staff about healthcare trends and implications
  • Maintains knowledge and understanding of trends that shape health care delivery system, and other emerging issues in health care. Demonstrates flexibility and initiative to effectively support change management in response to environmental or organizational changes
  • Partners with other leaders in pharmacy to achieve department and organizational goals and priorities
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with organizational leadership, physicians, nurses, healthcare team members and stakeholders across the enterprise and actively participate in medical center and medical staff committees
  • Responds timely, effectively, and appropriately to deliverables
  • Designs, implements, monitors, and evaluates the outcomes of strategic initiatives
  • Plans and leads to ensure goals and objectives are completed within established budget and deadlines
  • Collaborates to problem solve and make decisions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Establishes effective working relationships with cross-functional team(s)
  • Cultivates and maintains strong customer relationships and rapport with stakeholders and/or client groups
  • Shares knowledge, time and expertise to assist other members of the team

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing; walking, bending; reaching, occasional sitting, pushing & pulling, lifting of materials up to 40 pounds for distances to 10 feet.
  • Responsiveness to auditory alarms and communication devices including: telephones, beepers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alarms.
  • Sufficient mobility to access equipment, patients and other customers.
  • Able to read information on medication labels
