What you will be doing?
Under general supervision, the Exercise Technician assists in creating an individualized exercise program based on information from initial assessment, medical history, medications, and physician clearance. The Exercise Technician also provides exercise training and explanation of procedures to the population the program serves. Utilizes appropriate resources in the event of a participant's unusual response to the exercise. Identifies safety concerns in the age-related population and institutes measures to provide a safe environment. Stays abreast of technology and protocol updates and demonstrates continuous self-improvement. The Exercise Technician performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the population served.
Monitors, engages and instructs participants to safely perform the activities designed for the program. Is aware of the contraindications of testing.
Tracks and reports individual participants' progression to exercise physiologist; communicates any challenges or concerns to the exercise physiologist and/or physician.
Demonstrates knowledge and competency for performing exercise on equipment specific to the department including treadmill, elliptical, weight machines, bicycles and other equipment.
Provides ongoing observation of EKG, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation monitoring of participants with consideration of milestone.
Provides expertise in the department-specific exercise program through education and demonstration.
Recognizes malfunctioning equipment and performs minor troubleshooting. Promptly notifies supervisor of malfunctions.
Cleans and prepares areas and equipment before and after each session. Assists with coordinating maintenance and annual certification of program equipment.
Actively participates in department performance improvement projects.
May perform administrative tasks, such as supply management and other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's Degree, BS degree in exercise physiology or related field (Required)
Work Experience:
1 year Minimum one year experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications:
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Preferred)
Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)
