Manager-RN, Clinical Operations - Santa Monica Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Group

The Clinical Operations Manager has primary responsibility for the safe and effective delivery of patient care services in the Cedars Sinai Medical Center licensed units at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic (KJOC).  The Clinical Operations Manager is responsible for daily operations, clinical continuity, supervision and development of staff, performance improvement, and enhancement of the profitability of assigned areas.  The Clinical Operations Manager is also responsible to assure compliance with all regulatory agency and accreditation standards and requirements.


Maintains clinical competency/skills including the ability to assure that safe and effective care is provided to our special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds and assures appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation. She/he identifies safety concerns and institutes measures to provide a safe environment. She/he helps create a culture of accountability and process improvement.  Seeks to continuously improve the patient experience and clinic workflows. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Fosters the values and supports the mission of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.

 

2.    Uses expert Orthopaedic knowledge, clinical skills and critical thinking in managing daily delivery of patient care services assuring implementation of the appropriate clinical processes and coordinating/promoting an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care.

 

3.    Schedules patient care staff and assigns and delegates patient care responsibilities within the scope of practice to licensed and unlicensed health care providers and other KJOC staff as indicated.

 

4.    Supervises the delivery of patient care and ensures optimal levels of clinical effectiveness and services for all customers.

 

5.    Participates, with the Vice President, in the interviewing, hiring, evaluation and human resource management functions of the clinical and support staff at KJOC.

 

6.    In collaboration with the Vice President, develops service goals and operations/business plans for clinical services specifically, and as a component of the continuum of care within KJOC.

 

7.    Establishes and maintains patient care standards and assures that patient care functions, such as assessment, treatment, documentation and billing processes, are completed safely and effectively.

 

8.    Assures that Nursing Standards of Practice and Performance and best practices are implemented and ensure high quality and cost effective patient care and support services.

 

9.    Plans, implements, evaluates and documents the orientation and appraisal processes for the clinical and support staff and trainees at KJOC.

 

10.  Conducts formal and informal evaluations of assigned staff competency, determining staff educational needs, and providing structured assistance in areas needing improvement.  Provides staff training, as needed, both informally and in formal in-service presentations.

 

11.  Provides direct clinical supervision for all KJOC clinical and support staff including : Nurses, LVNs, Medical Assistants, and other staff involved in the daily clinical activities at KJOC. 

 

12.  Collaborates with pharmacist (if dispensing program is in place) and radiology supervisor to assure safe and efficient care.

 

13.  Acts as an expert (superuser) of the electronic medical record, training new staff, implementing new functionality and providing ongoing direction for system utilization.

 

14.  Assists the Vice President in developing and managing the budget for responsible services.

 

15.  Ensures compliance with drug administration guidelines.

 

16.  Ensures excellent staff/customer experience and functions with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.

 

17.  Maintains confidentiality of patient care and business matters. 

 

18.  Provides direct patient care as needed.




 

EDUCATION:

Registered Nurse, currently licensed in the State of California.

  

EXPERIENCE:

- Supervisory experience in an inpatient or outpatient surgical or clinic environment.

- Demonstrated positive and motivated interpersonal and communication skills.

- Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience in Orthopedics and at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience in health related field preferred.


LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

- California RN license.

- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association required.
