Duties:  Plan and implement progressively complex research projects focused on elucidating innate and adaptive immune mechanisms underlying chronic lung diseases such as asthma, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, sarcoidosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. Carry out research, analyze data, and interpret results relevant to understanding the mechanisms that drive idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Perform bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic databases, in vitro modeling of stromal cell and immune cell interactions, and in vivo modeling of lung remodeling in humanized mouse models. Collaborate and consult with other investigators on research proposals and projects, including study design, data review, analysis, and interpretation. Develop, adapt, and implement both new and established experimental protocols and research techniques in the field. Contribute to experimental design and execution of research protocols. Disseminate research results, both written and oral, through reports, publications, and presentation, including at professional conferences. Provide mentorship to Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows. Participate in departmental meetings.

Requirements:  Doctorate degree (Ph.D.), or equivalent, in Immunology, Pulmonary Medicine, or related scientific field, plus two (2) years of immunology research, analysis, or related experience conducting novel experiments, protocols, and procedures in the field of immunology; developing hypotheses and independent research projects; analyzing, interpreting, and compiling research data; publishing research in scientific journals; and presenting research findings at meetings and conferences.
