Job Summary:

The Cedars-Sinai Infectious and Immunological Diseases Research Center (IIDRC) Department of 
Biomedical Sciences and the Pediatrics Department (Arditi Lab) are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist, for NIH-funded cardiovascular immunobiology and mitochondrial biology research. 

The Arditi Laboratory, led by Moshe Arditi, MD, director of the Infectious and Immunological Diseases Research Center (IIDRC), investigates innate and adaptive immunity in cardiovascular inflammation and mitochondrial biology and gender differences. The Arditi Laboratory particularly investigates the immunobiology of the cardiovascular lesions in the Kawasaki Disease vasculitis mouse model as well as abdominal aorta aneurysm and atherosclerosis mouse models, focusing on mitochondrial biology, metabolism, NLRP3 inflammasome activation and IL-1beta production. Working independently but in close cooperation and consultation with the Principal Investigator(s) and other Research Scientists, the Research Fellow will perform routine and complex cellular, molecular biology experiments, as well as to conduct and learn procedures for experimental murine models of cardiovascular immunobiology throughout the training period. Will develop, adapt, implement and learn new research techniques and protocols. Will analyze, interpret and present research data. Will assist in the preparation of grant proposals. Will participate in manuscript preparation and publications and abstract presentations as author or co-author.


Educational Requirements:

Doctorate (PhD,) in Immunology, Immunobiology, molecular biology or areas directly related to field of research specialization.

Licenses: N/A

Experience: 

Strong background and experience in mitochondrial biology, metabolism, cellular and molecular Biology and or Immunology, as well as experience with experimental murine models of cardiovascular diseases is preferred. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment.

Physical Demands:

Standing and computer work for extended periods of time.
