Physician Assistant-ENT

SUMMARY

PA will be working in the ENT department with 4 other PAs supporting 10 ENT Surgeons.

The practice will consist of outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, including but not limited to, rounding on patients in the Medical Center and assisting in surgery.  Facilitates admissions and transfers from other hospitals, triages calls and messages, etc.   

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination.

 

Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.

 

Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing and wound care, and managing infection.

 

Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.

 

Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.

 

Assists surgeon in operation room procedures including suturing, retracting, cleaning, providing hemostasis.

 

Other duties as assigned.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Graduate, AMA accredited program; strongly prefer two years Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area, e.g., general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certification by the National Commission of Physician Assistants

Licensure by the State of California

Certified to perform Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc.)

Advanced Cardiac Life Support. (American Heart Assoc.)
