The Nursing Research Department  at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking faculty candidates at all levels with scholarly credentials to qualify for the minimum rank of Assistant Professor.


The Department is committed to engaging nursing staff to develop and provide excellent evidence-driven clinical care. There are currently four faculty research scientists in the department in addition to research support staff including data analysists and a nurse specialist. Current research focus areas include improving the care and health outcomes of older adults, clinical, health services research, health care work environment and its impact on providers/patients, patient safety within the inpatient and ambulatory care settings, nurse-sensitive performance measures, health disparities and equity, and genomics, that extend from bench to practice and to community with emphasis on implementation of science to improve and support nursing practice.

Cedars-Sinai has received five consecutive Magnet recognitions for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), making it Southern California's longest-running Magnet designation. Cedars-Sinai has the distinction of being one of only nine hospitals worldwide, and one of two medical centers in the Western United States, to receive this honor. The Magnet award recognizes excellence in nursing both for the quality of care provided and for continuous improvement in patient care and support for the health of the community. The award provides patients with a benchmark for the quality of care they can expect.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate exceptional promise as a principal investigator and/or can be considered as a research program manager as their program for research develops. Additionally, the candidate will have operational responsibilities to provide support to clinical nurses in developing inquiry projects to improve systems, practice, and patient outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Earned Doctoral degree in Nursing   or one of the biological or behavioral sciences with adequate preparation and experience in research and education
•    Prior faculty appointment or eligibility at a reputable institution of higher learning preferred
•    Formal and systematic training in scientific research
•    At minimum three (3) years of   experience in research or education
•    Publication in peer reviewed professional journals
•    Evidence of exceptional academic and professional accomplishment including but not limited to submission and obtainment of foundational and/or government grants as a principal investigator 
•    Demonstrated behavior reflecting creativity, persistence, collaborative work, the ability to think in a consistent and logical manner, and the independence of thought and motivation to experiment and study
