Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Essential job duties includes both independent decision making abilities and collaboration with the board certified physician to provide expert care to patients with CSF Leaks as well as other patients with neurosurgical diagnoses such as but not limited to Arteriovenous Malformation, Astrocytoma, Hydrocephalus, brain tumors and skull base tumors, in the preoperative and postoperative environments in Neurosurgery.
Provides individualized care in the inpatient and outpatient environments under the direction of and in collaboration with the Neurosurgery supervising physician. Specifically in the inpatient setting the nurse practitioner will be expected to manage the patients, update and summarize charting, change orders when appropriate, and notify responsible physician(s) of changes in the patient’s condition. This individualized care is achieved through comprehensive health assessments; detail documentation of history and physicals, consultations, and progress notes, ordering and or interpreting diagnostic test or studies.
Master of Nursing Degree required
Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as defined in Section 1482, Nurse Practice Act, Business and Professional Code.
Current State of California Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner License, Nurse Practitioner Furnishing, Nurse Practitioner Certification, BLS, and ACLS
Eligible for Nurse Practitioner specialty certification
A minimum of 2 years of Nursing experience, preferably including Acute Care
Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions.
Will consider a new graduate nurse practitioner.
Excellent verbal and written skills. Team player with excellent collaboration skills.
