Nurse Practitioner - Oncology - Angeles Clinic

Summary of Essential Job Duties:

A Nurse Practitioner’s practice incorporates both independent decision-making abilities and working directly with the board certified/eligible physician to deliver experienced care to the patients. You will be responsible to the physician partners and/or supervising physician and the Director of Clinical Operations/designee and functions as an integral member of the medical team.

  • You will use authoritative hematologic and oncologic knowledge, clinical skills and critical thinking in handling daily delivery of medical services assuring implementation of the appropriate clinical processes and coordinating/promoting an interdisciplinary team approach to patient care
  • You will schedule patient care staff and delegate patient care responsibilities within the scope of practice to licensed and unlicensed health care providers and other TACRI staff as indicated, assuring optimal levels of clinical effectiveness and services for all customers
  • You will perform a thorough age specific history and physical along with appropriate follow up and documentation of the results
  • You will also perform appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for identification and management of patient diagnosis following established standardized protocols Appropriately documents procedures and follow-up as necessary
  • You will Assess, facilitate, and role model appropriate resolution of patient/client/family psychosocial problems and/or support needs
  • You will assess quality of patient care delivery and find opportunities for changes in practice, rooted in evidence-based standards of care/protocols, which improve positive outcomes
  • You will evaluate and assess patient/family readiness to learn; individualized learning ability; provide age specific education; initiate and reinforce as needed
  • You will direct, educate and mentor staff in the development of sound clinical discernment to promote positive patient outcomes
  • In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, you will develop service goals and operations/business plans for clinical services specifically, and as a component of the continuum of care within TACRI
  • You will contribute to the formal and informal evaluations of staff competency, resolving staff educational needs, and providing structured assistance in areas needing improvement. Provides staff training, as needed, both informally and in formal in-service presentations

Educational Requirements:

  • MSN or DNP required
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

License/Certification Requirements:

  • California Nurse Practitioner license required
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner required
  • Chemo and Bio Certificate required
  • OCN or AOCN preferred within one year of service

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of oncology nursing experience

Physical Demands:

  • This position is located in a shared office environment and clinic.
  • Physical demands of the position include prolonged standing, walking, with some sitting, writing, and keyboarding. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50-200 lbs with assistance.
  • High volume of patient interaction in person and by telephone
