The Medical Lab Assistant will coordinate all daily functions for the research laboratory inclusive of, but not limited to clinical trial protocol interpretation for laboratory specimen collection and processing, phlebotomy, accessioning, and packaging of specimens for shipment.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs accurate processing of laboratory specimens, demonstrating a moderate degree of proficiency and understanding of research protocol procedures.
  • Participate in solution of technical problems requiring great degree of independent judgment
  • Oversee all aspects of research laboratory
  • Prepare and process laboratory kits for all research patients
  • Order laboratory kits as needed, destroy expired lab kits
  • Review all laboratory manuals provided by the clinical trial sponsor
  • Be a resource and contact for Sponsors and other laboratory facilities that pertain to the clinical trial
  • Obtain required laboratory documents for clinical trials
  • Obtain all required specimens from outside laboratories as outlined in the protocol 
  • Maintain a complete inventory of all specimens


  • High School diploma or equivalent


  • Current CPT1 licensure required.
  • Current BLS certification required from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross


  • Experience in clinical trial protocol interpretation for laboratory needs preferred 
  • Three to five years of clinical lab bench experience in processing of patient samples preferred
