The Lead NP for the Trauma-Emergency General Surgery Service (also known as Trauma-Acute Care Surgery) will provide leadership and oversee all aspects of a team of APPs that are aligned with this Service. This new and exciting position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work collaboratively with physician and program leaders to develop, implement and sustain an advanced practice team of clinicians. The Lead NP will ensure that the team of APPs provides adequate support of the patient needs including clinic.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- Develop, implement, and maintain a formal process for service specific credentialing, orientation, mentoring, role modeling, supervision, education, and evaluation
- Recruitment of additional APP personnel to augment the Trauma-ACS Service
- Implementation of a robust retention and team model process with ongoing sustainability
- Manages the schedule of the Service APPs to ensure appropriate coverage
- Completes a gap analysis of continuum of care needs for the Service pertaining to APP support
- Leads the team through to sustainability and stability of all strategic plan goals
Educational Requirements:
- Master of Nursing Degree required
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Nursing required
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
- Current State of California Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License required
- Current DEA license required or eligibility to obtain
- National Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner required
- ACLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- Successfully completed the following courses (or successfully complete these courses within 3 months of hire)
- Advanced Trauma Life Support
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation
Experience:
- Five (5) years or more of experience as an Advance Practice Nurse
- Previous experience in caring for trauma and acute care surgery patients preferred.
- AGACNP or inpatient NP experience required
