HIM Application Specialist

Under general direction, facilitates end-user meetings, and provides an advance level of operational and application build expertise in completing the more complex assignments to meet customer goals and desired outcomes.

This position is responsible for serving as an Application Specialist for project implementation and support of Epic HIM and related clinical systems. The Application Specialist reports to HIM Manager on work priorities and assignments as well as resolution and escalation of issues. The Application Specialist works closely with a variety other EIS teams to conduct high-quality, high-service planning/implementation and support of information systems for oncology users. This position applies high-level clinical and revenue cycle knowledge/project management ideology/methodology to develop, manage, and execute project plans. The Application Specialist is expected to have technical knowledge and functional competency on Epic HIM modules, as well as a thorough understanding of hospital/clinical operations.

In this role, the HIM Application Specialist will serve as a systems resource and consultant in the following activities, including but not limited to: developing user specifications, clinical operation workflows, complex application build/configuration, testing, and implementation; participating with project teams and end-users to develop/recommend design options; providing project team support, end-user training, and application maintenance/problem–resolution. On-call support coverage is required.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training is required.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements
Must be Epic certified in relevant modules (Epic HIM: Coding, Deficiency Tracking, Release of Information, Identity)

Experience
- Experience with Care Everywhere, 3M, OnBase preferred
- Strong project management experience preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Exceptional skill in working independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities
- Exceptional interpersonal skills including oral and written communications
- Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills
- Exceptional critical thinking skills required
- Troubleshoots effectively and provides recommendations
