EIS Application Specialist I

Job Summary:

Under general supervision, responsible for providing routine builds and support for research applications, including mapping/integration with existing systems. Performs modifications to existing applications that will effectively accomplish desired objectives.  Performs calendar builds/data extracts/queries/reports based on approved departmental build requests.  Provides quality assurance and quality control of entered data as needed. Meets deadlines and ensures continued progress toward assignment completion.  Shares experience with other members of team. Participates in meetings with other team members, research groups, and other internal customers to architect solutions. Performs and monitors the resolution of maintenance or enhancement issues. Interfaces with the various teams across CSHS departments and end user community regarding application support.  

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Develops reports/queries/calendars in research systems (e.g. OnCore, REDCap etc.)
  • Assists with monitoring performance and usability of research systems (e.g. responsiveness, uptime, issues etc.)
  • Assists with the analysis and documentation of research systems, including QA/QC of entered data
  • Provides application support and training for end-users of research systems (e.g. OnCore, REDCap etc.)
  • Assists with updates, including routine test maintenance and software updates
  • Creates troubleshooting documentation, user training materials and standard operating procedures
  • Works with end users in developing solutions for existing and new processes to improve workflow and efficiency
  • Coordinates with end users and other departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues with respect to data entry/quality
  • Assists in application customization, optimization and system stabilization
  • Uses analytical skills and expertise to investigate, resolve, and/or escalate support issues
  • Adheres to appropriate CSHS Project Management standards including Change Management/Control process
  • Assists in recommending application solutions to meet business needs
  • Functions as a technical resource to other EIS staff as well as other departmental application end users
  • Provides research systems on-boarding to various departments and end-users
  • Prepares and submits status reports to Manager as required
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training is required. Medical terminology proficiency is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant healthcare information systems experience required
  • Technical and functional knowledge of assigned information systems required
  • Some project management experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of basic project management methodologies and system analysis
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Good interpersonal skills including oral and written communication
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills, including tolerance for ambiguity
  • Strong computer skills including Windows, Exchange/Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
