Associate Director- Neurosciences

The Associate Director is responsible for the daily oversight of the administrative and clinical operations of assigned practices, departments and/or programs to meet the needs of physicians, patients and staff and support the mission and vision of Cedars-Sinai Health System.  This includes twenty-four (24) hour planning, organizing, directing and controlling of areas of operations. The Associate Director assumes fiscal responsibility through preparation of unit budgets, serves as liaison with medical staff and other personnel, promotes the maximum growth and development of each employee, supports research, participates in strategic planning, both long and short term, and assures patient advocacy. The Associate Director is accountable to the Executive Director. The Associate Director guides staff in meeting customer's needs consistent with the Medical Center's philosophy, mission, vision and strategic plan and The Plan for Provision of Patient Care, The Performance Improvement Plan and Professional Organization Standards. She/he maintains competency skills including the ability to interact with customers with diverse cultural backgrounds.
 
The position will be under the direction of departmental leadership through the Executive Director, and will participate in research, academic, and administrative activities that support the mission of the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery.
Educational Requirements:  Bachelor's degree, Master’s preferred; or equivalent skills and experience required.
 
License/Certification/Registration Requirements: n/a
 
Experience
  • Five years of management and oversight experience in a clinical operation setting working in a collaborative and supportive fashion with physicians, nursing, staff and other departments,
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive healthcare experience with 3 years related experience in a clinical operational setting
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills to write business communications, make group presentations, and effectively impart information at staff meetings.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage people including selecting, developing, motivating and retaining people to meet objectives of assigned areas.
  • Ability to promote effective collaboration and teamwork among individuals of multiple disciplines and across organizational boundaries; as well as ability to quickly develop and maintain productive relationships with team members and work with staff at the highest levels of the hospital.
  • Fiscal management skills to prepare, monitor and control budgets, reduce expenses and generate increased revenues.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of regulatory, reimbursement, legal and policy issues as they relate to effective area management.
  • Knowledge of the principles of CQI and ability to apply these principles including PDSA to improve unit work.
  • Extensive knowledge and skills using PC/Macintosh applications, especially spreadsheet, online analytic processing tools, and statistical functions
  • Ability to project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct.
  • Able to adhere to established Hospital, State, and Federal confidentiality policies.

Physical Demands: (e.g., lifting, standing, walking): Able to lift 30lbs, bend, stand, walk, stoop and sit for extended periods of time
