As the Program Manager, Clinical Research Finance you will be responsible for fiscal stability and management of clinical trials finance by recommending, developing, and implementing programs, practice strategies and services for Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute’s (SOCCI) Clinical Trials Office (CCTO) and affiliates. Responsible for clinical trials financial operations, reports, invoicing, and research billing compliance. Leads externally funded project contract negotiations and budget development. Provides direction and day-to-day supervision to the research finance staff within the SOCCI Clinical Research Office. Work cooperatively with multiple teams, peers, Scientific and Administrative leadership, and allied health staff throughout Cedars-Sinai, as well as representatives from extramural pharmaceutical and/or medical device companies. Provide consultative expertise regarding policy and/or regulatory questions to investigators and support staff.
The Program Manager, Clinical Research Finance, in addition will perform the following duties:
Management of Clinical Trials Finance Operations
Responsible for the management, oversight, and compliance of SOCCI’s clinical research finance unit. Responsible for developing, monitoring, and disseminating financial analysis reports to SOCCI leaders on a quarterly basis. Provide an interpretation of the financial information from reporting tools and/or develop complex management financial information.
Management of Clinical Trial Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable
Develops and manages system for tracking outstanding accounts receivable and auditing system for tracking sponsor's payments and financial responsibility.
Management of Research Billing Compliance
Improves research billing compliance process to ensure accurate and compliant patient billing. In conjunction with Patient Financial Services (PFS), performs audits to assess the effectiveness of the research billing compliance process and finds opportunities for improvement and/or develop corrective action plan in the event deficiencies are noted. Works with patient accounting (revenue cycle) to adjust incorrect and/or complex billing and reimbursement issues associated with research patient accounts.
Planning/Program Development of Research Finance Operations and Training
Responsible for recruitment, training, management and direction, ongoing mentoring, quality improvement activities, and continuing education of clinical research finance staff. Establishes and participates in a formal departmental orientation program and administers a training program within clinical research finance unit.
Management and Coordination of Clinical Trials Study Budgets and Contracts
Leads budget development and contract negotiations for externally funded cancer clinical trials, through the post award process which includes amendments and study closure. Participates in the budget development process for internally funded projects and/or budgets necessary to support of concept submissions.
Five (5) years of clinical research finance experience, required
Five (5) years or more of managing/leading clinical research staff, preferred
